Nairobi police have launched an investigation into the death of a 51-year-old man who fell from the 14th floor of an apartment building in Kilimani on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased is believed to have been the Chief Executive Officer of a local information and communication technology firm.
According to preliminary reports, the man checked into the apartment along Kasuku Road at approximately 10 p.m. on Monday night. He was alone at the time and is believed to have spent the night there before the fatal incident occurred the following day. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the apartment in disarray. A used scalpel was recovered, along with bottles of alcohol and medication. Investigators also noted a significant amount of blood in the bedsitter, including in the washroom, suggesting the man may have sustained injuries prior to the fall. The body was discovered on the ground outside the building with multiple injuries, including severe head trauma and broken limbs.
Authorities are treating the case as a suspected suicide, though they have emphasized that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the death. The body has been transferred to Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted. This incident adds to a growing list of similar tragedies reported in Nairobi this year. In November, a 23-year-old university student died after falling from the 12th floor of an apartment in Ngara. Investigations later revealed she had attempted to leap between balconies while intoxicated during a party.Mental health professionals continue to urge individuals experiencing emotional distress to seek help.
