Starting from February 2024, deductions from the NSSF pension fund will be between 420 shillings and 1740 shillings from the salaries of workers in the country.
In the latest announcement nssf has increased the minimum wage to contribute to the fund to 7000 shillings from 6000 shillings which means that the minimum deduction will be 420 shillings and not 360 shillings as it was higher salaries will as well be deducted more, increasing from the current 18,000 kenyan shillings to 29,000 shillings, the minimum deduction that was 1080 will now be 1740 shillings.
This reform in the NSSF fund was supposed to be implemented in 2014 but because of the case represented in the courts to oppose it which remained there for a decade hence challenging the reform .
However, the court of appeal gave the greenlight for the new deductions in a judgement delivered in september 2022. this paved way for NSSF to start the new deduction scheme last year
