The Ministry of Transport has announced the return of officers from the National Transport Safety Authority to ensure safety on Kenyan roads, six years after President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered the authority off the roads after an alleged failure to tame road carnage.
Transport cs Kipchumba Murkomen also ordered immediate restesing of PSV and heavy commercial drivers and announcing a nationwide crackdown .The nationwide crackdown has ordered the impounding of all vehicles without the Intelligent Road Safety Management system, which transmits speed limit data.
The Kenya Transport Accident Investigation Bureau will investigate road rail and water transport incidents, draft regulations on school transport rules, and require school vans and buses to install CCTV cameras and heavy commercial vehicle operation regulations
