Talanta Hella teams have shown their prowess during their tour in Spain, starting with the Costa Dourada Cup. The boys’ team swept the win against Usurbil FT in the finals while the girl’s team took the second position after losing 2-0 to Sporting de Portugal from Portugal.
On Sunday marking the last game for Talanta Hela girls in the friendly games in Spain, they thrashed Real Zaragoza at Nastic Training Stadium. Coach Jackline Juma emphasized the need for more friendly games to boost the girls’ morale in the field of football.
The Easter holiday ended with glory to the under-19 Talanta Hela boys by taking the victory of 4-2 against Spanish side Eldense at the Nastic Training Ground. The win was for revenge after failing to win the Friday Match against Spanish lower-tier CD Castellion who won 5-1.
The top scorer in the Costa Dourada Cup, a young striker from Vihiga county, Austine Oduor secured a hattrick taking his goals to seven as observed throughout the games played in Spain. Ismael Odhiambo broke the deadlock with a header courtesy of Samuel Indonyi’s corner kick in the 19th minute. The 17-year-old striker from Ebwali High School in Vihiga County expressed dissatisfaction with his performance, noting that he was aiming for more goals in Spain
