Agriculture cabinet secretary Mithika Linturi has been defended over resignation calls pushed by opposition leaders and the churches following allegations of fake fertilizer scandal, government’s spokesperson Isaac Mwaura says Linturi is not linked to the scandal.
Mwaura has accused those calling for Linturi’s resignation requesting them to allow investigations to go on.
While speaking in Chepkolon in Ainamoi constituency, Senate majority leader Aaron Cheruiyot says those found guilty behind the fake fertilizer saga will be held accountable.
The department of committee on agriculture has summoned the Ministry of agriculture, NCPB, Kenya Bureau of standards, KBS among other stakeholders to give answers on the issue of fake fertilizer starting next week.
The agriculture committee will then engage with the famers about the fertilizer, it’s price and then report their findings In Front of the house.
While speaking in Webuye East constituency Ford Kenya party leaders have asked those calling for the resignation of health cabinet secretary Susan Nakhumicha to resign,to do investigations to different ministries including the ministry of agriculture which has been linked with the allegations of fake fertilizer.
Webuye East MP Martin Pepela has accused opposition leaders for taking the issue of holding cabinet secretaries accountable for what they said it is done politically for the benefit of individuals.
“Ministries that have been accused of different allegations are, Health ministry, ministry of agriculture together with the ministry of roads and transport.”
