It is in the center of the city of Nairobi where the situation was volatile after activists collaborating with citizens to lead a protest against the complex financial bill of 2024, an unknown number of protesters were arrested and some police dispersed them with tear gas and ran to their safety.
This happened despite the finance committee in the national parliament mentioning changes in the finance bill, only after president William Ruto led a meeting with the Kenyan parliamentarians first, and the ministers to discuss the issues and strategies they have set before being presented to the parliament for the bill itself to be discussed .
Member of Parliament for Mumiasi East Peter Salasya has rejected the amendments made by the finance committee in the National Assembly, regarding the bill, he claims that Kenyans have opposed the entire bill, his remarks were supported by the Member of Parliament for Embakasi East Babu Owino who wanted more products to be exempted from tax.
Residents of Bomet county have asked the members of parliament not to pass the financial bill claiming that they are currently experiencing a difficult life situation.
Just some of the items the member of parliament for Embakasi East Babu Owino wants the finance committee in the National Assembly to amend include cooking oil, milk, house tax among other products.
