Learning institutions and parents are being encouraged to nurture sports talents within the community.
Governor George Natembeya emphasized the importance of identifying, training, and developing sports talents, particularly among the youth, as a potential employment avenue.
He made these remarks at a gathering in Kitale town hall, celebrating the victory of St. Joseph’s Boys, who defeated St. Anthony’s 2-0 in the county secondary school football game.
“Sports can be a significant source of employment in many countries. That’s why we should focus on nurturing talents. Even if talented youths cannot find employment in Kenya, they might secure opportunities abroad,” the governor stated.
Governor Natembeya congratulated St. Joseph’s Boys Kitale for becoming county-level football champions by defeating St. Anthony’s Boys.
He assured that the team would receive support from both the school and the county government.
The governor noted that their success was not only due to entertainment and talent but also to their behavior and discipline.
He announced that his administration is constructing a modern stadium in Kitale town, with hopes for its completion by next year.
This facility will allow the winning team to use it in next year’s competition. The county has allocated Sh. 657 million to complete this high-standard sports complex.
Governor Natembeya also congratulated all the teams that participated in the finals.
