On Tuesday morning, a severe accident took place on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway in the Migaa area. A Coast Bus collided with a private car and overturned, leading to a tragic outcome. The cause of the accident was identified as a brake failure on the bus.
Passengers who survived the crash revealed that the bus had previously stopped in Kericho for about four hours. The crew had attempted to fix the bus’s faulty brakes during this stop, but unfortunately, the repair was not successful.
Despite the repairs, the bus experienced another brake failure, which led to the devastating collision with a private car. This failure ultimately resulted in the bus overturning, causing significant damage and loss of life.
Rift Valley Regional Police Commander Jasper reported that the crash occurred at approximately 4 a.m. on Tuesday. The immediate impact of the accident was the death of 13 people, with many more sustaining injuries.
In total, 55 individuals were reported injured in the crash, ranging from minor to severe injuries. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene to provide assistance and transport the injured to nearby hospitals.
Sadly, the death toll increased to 14 when another victim succumbed to their injuries at Nakuru Referral Hospital, adding to the tragedy of the accident. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
