BODY OF MKU STUDENT FOUND IN A MAIZE FIELD

In the Kiamunyi area of Rongai Constituency, Nakuru County, a tragic incident that unfolded left the local community in shock.

The body of a female student from Mount Kenya University’s main campus was discovered abandoned in a maize plantation. Identification was made possible through her national identification card and student card, as confirmed by Kiamunyi Location Senior Chief Wilson Maraga.

The location of the body was in the Mercy Njeri Sub-location, a place typically known for its tranquility and safety. Chief Maraga remarked on the rarity of such occurrences in the area, stating, “This is a rare occurrence as our area is generally peaceful and free from major security issues.” His comments underscore the community’s disbelief at the violent nature of this incident.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was not from the local area. Documents located at the scene indicated that she was a university student originally from Nandi South, raising questions about her presence in Nakuru and the circumstances surrounding her death.

As of now, the police have not yet collected the body, and a formal investigation into the events leading up to her demise is expected to commence shortly. Local resident Brighton Roman was the first individual to encounter the body while he was on his way home from a nearby shop. His discovery set off a chain of events that would bring attention to this distressing situation.

After spotting the body, Roman alerted nearby farmworkers, who quickly joined him to assess the scene. One of the witnesses then took the initiative to contact the area sub-chief, who responded promptly to the unfolding situation. This quick response by the community members highlights the urgency and seriousness of the discovery.

Further investigation has revealed that the 23-year-old student had traveled from Thika to Nakuru on Saturday, which adds another layer of complexity to the case. A bus fare receipt found near her body may provide crucial information about her travel and purpose for being in the area, serving as a potential clue for investigators.

As the community processes this shocking event, local authorities are focused on piecing together the details surrounding the student’s tragic death. The incident has not only rattled the residents but also raised concerns about safety and security in an area previously considered peaceful.
