After a fiercely contested election, Donald Trump has triumphed over Vice President Kamala Harris to become the 47th president-elect of the United States.
Trump, who previously served as the 45th president, failed to secure a second term in his previous bid. Among those celebrating with him are the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, and the Trump family.
In his victory speech, Donald Trump reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on all the promises he made during his campaign.
Among his key promises to the American people were revitalizing the economy and restoring the nation’s global standing. On immigration, Trump pledged to complete the construction of the wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Trump secured 279 electoral votes, while Kamala Harris received 223 votes, with 270 needed to win.
In battleground states with large voter bases, Trump claimed victories in North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nevada, Maine, and Arizona. Kamala Harris has since conceded defeat.
Meanwhile, Kenyan President William Ruto has sent a message of congratulations to Donald Trump on his victory.
Additionally, the U.S. election has been historic, with Kenyan Huldah Momanyi making history by winning a seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives with 64% of the vote.
