The official launch of the first phase of arts and drama will take place on November 28 at the KIE Arts and Drama Hall in Bungoma Town. According to the event organizers, winners will be honored on November 30 at Jadelica Restaurant.
Young people, particularly young women, are encouraged to participate and showcase their talents, as there is currently a low representation of females in the arts and drama sectors.
Youth from across the western counties, including host county Bungoma, as well as Kakamega, Busia, and Vihiga, have been invited to present their talents. This platform aims to connect them with mentors and potential supporters who can help bring their dreams to fruition.
Organizers describe this as a unique opportunity for youth in the region, emphasizing that talent is a valuable economic resource. They are urging young people to invest more in the arts, pointing out that there are many successful artists making a living from their craft.
Additionally, leaders have been called upon to support youth initiatives, particularly those using their talents to create opportunities. This message was echoed by Robert Wanyonyi, Director-General of Tandao TV, who stressed that arts and drama offer significant employment prospects for young people.
