ICT Cabinet secretary William Kabogo is currently at the center of a heated legal battle with his uncle, Kimani Kabogo, over a piece of land valued at a staggering Ksh 380 million. The dispute stems from allegations of fraud and breach of trust, which Kimani claims to have uncovered back in 2006. This revelation prompted him to take legal action in 2017, seeking damages for the alleged wrongdoing.
Initially, the High Court dismissed Kimani’s case, citing the statute of limitations under the Limitation of Actions Act. However, the Court of Appeal recently stepped in and overturned this decision, deeming the High Court’s judgment as flawed and ordering a fresh hearing with a different judge presiding over the case.Despite the allegations leveled against him, William Kabogo vehemently denies any wrongdoing, asserting that the properties in question were acquired lawfully through a private agreement with NIC Bank.

The bank had sold the land to recover a loan owed by Kenya Modern Digitals Ltd, a loan that was guaranteed by none other than Kimani himself. With the appellate court’s ruling, the stage is now set for a thorough reexamination of the dispute in the High Court. The legal drama continues to unfold, with both parties steadfast in their positions. Stay tuned for more updates as this high-stakes battle for land ownership plays out in the courtroom.
