

President Ruto Pledges Enhanced Security and Infrastructure Development in Meru County.
On Thursday, April 17,2025, President William Ruto reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing insecurity and advancing infrastructure development in Meru County during the annual Holy Oil Consecration ceremony of the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) at St. Nicholas AIPCA Church in Kithaku, Imenti Central Constituency.
Addressing congregants, President Ruto emphasized the administration’s dedication to tackling security challenges, including banditry and cattle rustling, particularly in the county’s grazing zones. He assured residents that comprehensive and decisive measures are being implemented to restore peace and safety in the region.In line with this commitment, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki recently announced the deployment of 140 additional National Police Reservists (NPRs) to Meru North. This move aims to bolster efforts against livestock theft and enhance overall security in the area.

President Ruto also highlighted the government’s resolve to complete stalled road and infrastructure projects within Meru County and across the nation. He noted that the administration now possesses the necessary resources to invigorate economic transformation through the completion of these critical projects.Significant infrastructure initiatives are underway in Meru County.
The Ministry of Roads and Transport has launched the upgrading of several key roads to bitumen standards, including the A2 Kwa Mumero-Kithinthina Primary-Junction and the A2 Timau-Rugirando-Ngusishi-Junction. These projects, totaling 43.2 kilometers, are expected to enhance connectivity and facilitate the movement of goods and people within the region.
Additionally, the Community Road Empowerment (CORE) program, supported by the Japan Social Development Fund and the World Bank, is rehabilitating access roads in underserved areas of Meru County. Utilizing Do-nou technology, which involves using soil-filled gunny bags, the initiative aims to improve transportation infrastructure while creating employment opportunities for local youth.

President Ruto’s visit to Meru County underscores the government’s commitment to fostering development and ensuring the safety and prosperity of its citizens.
