The countryโs top political leaders seem to have already started preparing for the 2027 general elections, even before the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is restructured.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, directed his political meeting in Kiserian Kajiado County, where he urged residents to fully support his new party, which he plans to launch in May this year. This meeting comes as President William Ruto, prepares for his visit to the Mount Kenya region next week, his first since Gachagua was removed from office as deputy president. During the event, Gachagua took the opportunity to criticize the president, accusing him of failing to fulfill some promises to the residents of the region.

Unlike before, when the former deputy president defended the interests of the Mount Kenya residents, Gachagua now appeared to encourage Kenyans to unite, regardless of their ethnic backgrounds.Elsewhere former Chief Justice David Maraga, has accepted the call from Gen Z youth, to run for president in the upcoming general election.
While addressing the youths at Rongo University in Migori County, Maraga took the opportunity to criticize some policies of the current Kenya Kwanza government, including the new health insurance cover. He urged young people to register in large numbers as voters in order to bring about leadership changes in the future.
