Tension is rising in Bungoma County after two gruesome murders rocked Misikhu Market, sparking outrage and fear among residents and traders. Police have launched investigations into the killings, which occurred between Webuye East and West constituencies.
The first victim, a woman, was discovered near St. Thomas RC Secondary School in Webuye West. Her body was mutilated, with several parts missing—an act that has left the community shaken. Hours later, the body of a shop guard was found near a local pharmacy owned by Moses Wekesa. Wekesa reported that his store had been looted, with cash and medical supplies stolen.Locals are furious, blaming lax security enforcement for the escalating violence.
Traders and residents condemned the killings and called for urgent government intervention, including the installation of street lights and tighter controls on nighttime business operations.Michael Nasong’o, the Misikhu Central village administrator, confirmed the incidents and urged residents to assist law enforcement in identifying the perpetrators. Detectives from the Webuye DCI office are actively investigating, while the bodies have been moved to the Webuye Sub-County Hospital morgue for autopsy.The community now waits anxiously, hoping for swift justice and a renewed commitment to public safety.
