The fight against new cases of HIV in our country is making significant progress with the official launch of a groundbreaking preventive drug, which has been rolling out since March of this year. This important initiative includes the distribution of 21,000 doses, intended for injection and aimed at individuals at high risk across fifteen counties nationwide. Kakamega County is particularly poised to benefit from this transformative public health program.
During the launch in Kakamega town, health officer David Alila passionately encouraged all individuals at risk of HIV infection to step forward and receive this life-changing preventive injection. Kakamega County Public Health Officer Rose Muhanda proudly highlighted the county’s remarkable progress in the fight against HIV infections, showcasing a decrease from 14 percent to 6 percent.
