The Township Member of County Assembly in Bungoma, Jeremiah Kuloba, on 26th May this year distributed 10 incubator machines to 10 community-based organizations across the ward. The initiative aims at empowering poultry farmers and boosting chicken production. Each incubator is capable of handling 400 eggs, a number considered sufficient for each group.The area MCA stated that the program will erase traditional politics of handouts by replacing them with empowerment projects. “I don't do politics, but I empower my people. I need them to depend on themselves to generate income rather than relying on handouts only,” he stated. He assured residents of the ward to continue trusting leaders who give back to society as a way of giving them hope in his administration.Jeremiah Kuloba called upon residents to support one another, saying tribal politics will not help in any way, citing the diversity of the beneficiaries. “My administration is for every community. Today we have beneficiaries from the Kikuyu and Muslim communities. This is an indicator that I help everyone,” he said. The ward, being located within Bungoma town, comprises people from different communities who have benefited from his projects.The beneficiaries, on the other hand, welcomed the project and praised the MCA for his commitment to empowering all members of society. The beneficiaries included various business people within the ward who were willing to venture into poultry farming. They also committed to support his bid for a second term in the next general election. “We have never seen this before, but our MCA Makabichi has done it, and we will stand with him during his re-election next year,” said Hawa Mohammed. They added that his leadership has paved the way for development that is visible throughout the ward.Mr. Kuloba has given residents hope for a better society through projects that include the distribution of water tanks to schools and market centres, saying that water is life and everyone should be included. He further urged parents to apply for the bursaries under the county government program approved by members of the County Assembly in Bungoma."}
