The High Court has suspended the decision by Political Parties Dispute Tribunal (PPDT) that allowed allies of President William Ruto to take over leadership of the Jubilee Party, giving allies of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta reprieve in the ongoing leadership wrangles.
In a brief ruling yesterday, Justice Asenath Ongeri issued orders suspending a decision allowing the political outfit rebel faction led by EALA MP Kanini Kega and nominated MP Sabina Chege to take over the leadership of the party pending the hearing and determination of an appeal against the Monday\u2019s tribunal decision.
\u201cPending the hearing and determination of the application inter-partes, the court issues conservatory orders to the effect that status quo in the leadership of the jubilee party be maintained as per gazette notice No 3195 of March 22, 2022,\u201d the judge ordered<\/p>\n\n\n

According to the orders, former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni and businessman David Murathe will continue functioning as the party leader, SG and vice chairman, respectively.
The judge also certified as urgent the appeal lodged Kioni, Murathe, Gichohi and the Jubilee party as urgent and ordered case to be heard inter partes on July 26, 2023 before Justice Aleem Visram.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
