Here, basic education principal\u00a0secretary Belio Kipsang defended the ministry saying the decision to discontinue the scheme came from parliament after it stopped the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"946\" height=\"630\" src=\"https:\/\/tandaomedia.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image-44.png\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"object-fit:cover;\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tandaomedia.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image-44.png 946w, https:\/\/tandaomedia.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image-44-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/tandaomedia.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image-44-768x511.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 946px) 100vw, 946px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>However, Belio said under the Social Health Insurance Fund, all deserving students from pre-primary school will benefit unlike in Edu-Afya where it targeted secondary school learners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also assured\u00a0the country that despite discontinuation of Edu-AFYA, the nine learners who sought medication in India were still taken care of with only four still undergoing treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ministry was also tasked to explain why the remaining resources under Edu Afya were channelled&nbsp;to capitation and what alternative was provided for students who were under Edu Afya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is expected that the registration of students under SHIF will begin soon.
