\u00a0Doctors will now face disciplinary action if they fail to resume duties as ordered by the court.This was announced by the Council of Governors following a deliberation meeting on issues affecting the health sector.<\/p>\n\n\n

The governors said the doctors have failed to show goodwill despite their efforts to call for negotiations and resolve the issues amicably in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the national government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile despite the councils admission that they have not paid arrears of basic salary as per the 2017 collective bargaining agreement following under funding from the exchequer and they are now calling on the union and the doctors to help negotiate with the counties and raise the issue of salary delays with their respective employers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And on the issue of lack of medical covers for the doctors <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The issue of payment of fees for post graduate education was also addressed, They also directed the ministry of health to fulfil the promise of the extension of contracts for three years under the same terms for universal health coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Counties have now released 890 doctors to go for the training, meanwhile the CoG announced that all intern  facilities and county facilities are available to receive interns once they are posted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They further condemned violence mated against doctors during the 29th february demos urging iPOA to follow up on the matter and ensure justice is served.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KMPDU secretary general doctor Davji Attellah has however accused the government of coming into the negotiation table with incesere intentions. The union remains adamant that it will only call off the strike once it has a return to work formula. The union demands a commitment from the government on the 19 key grievances that led to the strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
