The government, led by CS Nakhumicha, has taken on the task of closely monitoring the economic activities of Kenyan citizens in order to determine the appropriate payments to be made to the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF). <\/p>\n\n\n

However, a major challenge arises when it comes to collecting contributions from individuals who are self-employed or unemployed. Nakhumicha has emphasized that collecting contributions from employees who receive a regular salary is relatively straightforward, as their employers remit the payments on a monthly basis. However, the same cannot be said for those who are not formally employed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to address this issue, the government has decided to analyze the economic behaviors of these individuals, particularly in terms of their clothing and accessories, as a means of estimating their income levels. To assist self-employed individuals in calculating their expected contributions, a scientific tool has been developed. This tool takes into account various factors such as the type of business, expenses, and market trends, in order to provide an accurate estimation of the individual’s income. It is important to note that even those without formal employment are still required to declare their income and contribute 2.75% of it to the SHIF. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For individuals who have no income at all, they are expected to declare zero income in order to receive government support. This ensures that those who are truly in need are able to access the necessary assistance. The government strongly encourages all Kenyans to contribute transparently and honestly, as this will help to ensure a consistent benefit package for everyone.
