The process of fully constituting the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has officially begun, with the selection panel launching interviews for the position of commission chairperson and six commissioners. The 33-day exercise, which kicked off yesterday, is being conducted publicly to ensure transparency and accountability in selecting officials who will oversee the country\u2019s electoral process.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The panel is tasked with evaluating candidates based on their leadership experience, integrity, and understanding of Kenya\u2019s electoral laws. With public trust in the electoral system being a crucial issue, the selection of competent and impartial leaders is expected to set the foundation for credible elections in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the first day of interviews, four candidates faced the panel: Charles Nyachae, a former Chairperson of the Constitutional Implementation Committee; Anne Amadi, a former Chief Registrar of the Judiciary; Abdulqadir Lorot Ramadhan; and Edward Katama Ngeywa. The interviews continued today, with four more candidates scheduled to appear before the panel. Among them are Erastus Edung Ethekon, Francis Kakai Kissinger, former Nairobi County Assembly Clerk Jacob Ngwele, and Joy Masinde-Mdivo, who currently serves as the Chairperson of the Kenya Power Board. The panel is expected to assess their suitability for the critical role of overseeing electoral processes in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The selection process will culminate with interviews for the chairperson position, where Lillian Wanjiku Manegene, Robert Akumu Asembo, and Saul Simiyu Wasilwa will take the hot seat.
