Kenya welcomed Pope Leo XIV with open arms as he made a historic visit to Nairobi in December 2024, marking a significant moment for the Catholic faithful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously known as Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, Pope Leo XIV presided over the dedication of the new chapel of Our Mother of Good Counsel, an event that brought together thousands of worshippers, clergy, and government officials in celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His visit came outside the Lenten season which traditionally begins in February or March, making it a unique occasion focused on spiritual renewal rather than the typical fasting and reflection period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
