Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has issued a pointed warning to Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, vowing to respond directly if Kalonzo continues making what he described as baseless claims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement shared on his official X account on Sunday, June 15, Kindiki responded to Kalonzo\u2019s recent sharp remarks rejecting any potential alliance with the Kenya Kwanza administration. Kalonzo had earlier denounced the government as a \u201cblood-based regime\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and accused it of trying to \u201csanitise injustice\u201d by associating his name with it.\u201cI hear my big brother Kalonzo has said he doesn\u2019t wish to work with me politically. That\u2019s fine with me,\u201d wrote Kindiki. \u201cFor the unkind things he has said about me, I won\u2019t answer him back publicly\u2014not because I can\u2019t, but because I don\u2019t engage in public duels with people I respect.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still, the deputy president was clear that mutual respect must be upheld. \u201cIf he continues with his falsehoods unprovoked, I will happily tackle him head-on,\u201d he warned.The exchange came just a day after Kindiki appeared to extend an olive branch during a speech in Wote, Makueni County, where he referred to Kalonzo as a respected elder and \u201csenior-in-law.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kindiki said he was open to consulting Kalonzo on development matters in the region.\u201cI will look for him, as you\u2019ve asked me to,\u201d Kindiki told locals. \u201cWe don\u2019t want him to be misled by people seeking to stir division through tribal and polarising politics.\u201dBut Kalonzo swiftly dismissed the gesture as political theatre.\u201cI will never work with this blood-based regime,\u201d he posted on his own X account the same day. \u201cLet no one be misled by those spreading lies and trying to use my name to legitimise injustice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kalonzo had earlier in the day accused the government of being complicit in the deaths of Gen Z protestors, naming Albert Ojwang\u2014a young man killed during recent demonstrations\u2014as one such victim.\u201cI will not meet or cooperate with those who have Gen Z blood on their hands,\u201d he said, calling the government\u2019s recent outreach \u201ca distraction and an attempt to divide the United Opposition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
