Kanduyi MP John Makali has challenged the Bungoma County government to collaborate with his NG-CDF office to purchase land that will aid in the expansion of the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Bungoma Campus, which offers various medical courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his speech during the burial service for Juliana Osyanju in Bungoma town, Makali stated that the institution currently has only two acres of land. He noted that due to the increasing number of students enrolling at the college, there is a pressing need for additional land to allow the college to develop further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ford-Kenya MP, who is serving his first term in Kanduyi and aims to be re-elected in 2027, mentioned that he has allocated approximately KSh 10 million in his budget for the financial year 2025\/2026 to support the college in acquiring more land.Additionally, Makali revealed that there is a plan to enable some members of the bodaboda community from the entire Kanduyi Constituency to enroll in the medical college to empower them with skills related to healthcare and help them sustain themselves in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MP Makali thanked President William Ruto for responding to their request to elevate the status of the Bungoma referral hospital to Level 6.”Mr. President, we thank you for your response. Our people will receive healthcare close to home; they will no longer need to travel to other counties for treatment of chronic diseases such as cancer,” Makali stated.A Level 6 hospital is a healthcare institution with significant responsibilities in providing health services to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its general roles include: Providing medical services to various patients, including advanced surgical procedures, care for patients with chronic diseases, and emergency services.Providing mental health services and support for patients with mental health issues.Treating and caring for patients with major injuries and orthopedic problems.Offering training and education to healthcare providers, including doctors and nurses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
