.Crackdown in Kakamega: The War on Drugs and Illicit Alcohol Hits Home<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tide is turning in the battle against drugs and illicit alcohol in Kakamega! A major operation led by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA), in collaboration with the Administration Police and other agencies, has struck a heavy blow to the underground trade that has plagued Sigalagala and its surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This wasn\u2019t just another raid; it was a targeted strike at the core of Kakamega South\u2019s illicit economy. The operation uncovered and shut down a sprawling narcotics and alcohol hub,an epicenter of chaos and destruction. Authorities arrested John Lisulu, identified as the primary supplier of cannabis sativa,more commonly known as marijuana,to students at Sigalagala National Polytechnic. This arrest sends a clear message: no one is above the law, especially when it comes to endangering our youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the crackdown didn\u2019t stop there. Simultaneously, teams stormed five extensive brewing dens along the banks of River Yala. These dens were notorious for producing and distributing illicit brews\u2014dangerous concoctions that threaten the health and future of countless young people. Over 5,000 liters of chang\u2019aa\u2014Kenya\u2019s infamous homemade spirit\u2014were destroyed, along with a staggering 100,000 liters of the highly potent brew called \u2018Sigalagala\u2019. One brewer was arrested, but the message was loud and clear: illegal alcohol production will not be tolerated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the dust settled, NACADA CEO Dr. Anthony Omerikwa didn\u2019t hold back. His words cut through the noise, warning traffickers and brewers that the war is far from over.”To those merchants of death who are hell-bent on destroying the future of our children, hear this clearly: we are not relenting. This war is far from over. We shall not sit and watch as our children\u2019s future is destroyed by drugs and illicit alcohol.<\/em>” He uttered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
