Winfred Mutile Yavi<\/strong>\u00a0(born 31 December 1999)\u00a0is a Kenyan-born\u00a0Bahraini\u00a0female athlete who specialises in the\u00a03000 metres steeplechase. Mutile hails from Ukia,\u00a0Makueni County<\/a>\u00a0She won the gold medal at the\u00a02023 World Athletics Championships\u00a0beating\u00a0Beatrice Chepkoech<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0Kenya\u00a0and finished fourth at both the\u00a02019\u00a0and\u00a02022 World Athletics Championships. Yavi won the gold medal at the\u00a02018 Asian Games. She took bronze in the\u00a01500 metres, gold in the\u00a05000 metres\u00a0and gold for the 3000\u00a0m steeplechase at the\u00a02019 Asian Athletics Championships.<\/p>\n\n\n

Yavi was the bronze medallist in her specialist event at the\u00a02018 World Under-20 Championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born in\u00a0Kenya, Winfred Yavi transferred her allegiance to the oil-rich Middle Eastern state at the age of fifteen, becoming eligible to compete for her adopted nation in August 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She represented Bahrain at the\u00a02017 World Championships in Athletics<\/a>\u00a0at the age of 17 and finished eighth in the steeplechase final in a personal best time of 9:22.67.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
