The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has clarified its stance on the possibility of party chairperson Gladys Wanga becoming President William Ruto\u2019s running mate in the 2027 general election.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to ODM Deputy Party Leader Abdulswamad Nassir, Wanga,like any other ODM leader,could be considered for the role, but only if she expresses interest and gains approval from the party\u2019s internal organs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during an interview on NTV, Nassir emphasized that the decision would be guided by strategic considerations, regional balance, and data-driven analysis. \u201cIf she said yes, then that has to go to the Central Management Committee for deliberation,\u201d he explained, adding that the party would weigh all options before settling on a candidate.Despite growing speculation, Nassir noted that Wanga has not declared any interest in the position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also ruled himself out of contention, stating his commitment to serving as Mombasa Governor.Nassir further clarified that ODM is not in a formal coalition with Ruto\u2019s United Democratic Alliance (UDA), but is part of a broader government framework. He stressed that future cooperation would hinge on the success of the 10-point Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
