Former Kanduyi MP Alfred Khang\u2019ati has launched a scathing attack on ex-Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, accusing him of misusing county funds on the Musikoma-Kanduyi dual carriageway project.The 6.5-kilometre stretch of the C33 road linking Sang\u2019alo Junction to Kanduyi Junction was awarded to Zhongmei Engineering Group Ltd under a contract valued at KSh 1.382 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially slated for completion within 24 months, the project has since racked up over KSh 1 billion in payments, with pending bills exceeding KSh 544 million, including interest and delayed-payment claims.Khang\u2019ati condemned the project as a \u201cmisappropriated ideology,\u201d alleging that Wangamati diverted county resources to fund what was originally a national government initiative. He argued that the money would have been better spent on rural feeder roads, many of which remain impassable during the rainy season.\u201cInstead of flashy urban projects, we should be fixing the roads that matter most to our people,\u201d Khang\u2019ati said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
