National Assembly Minority Leader and Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed is facing mounting pressure from within the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition, as seven affiliate parties have called for his immediate resignation from all leadership roles in the alliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a joint statement issued on Tuesday, January 13, the parties accused Mohamed of making remarks that they say undermine the legacy of former President Uhuru Kenyatta and threaten the unity of the opposition coalition. The leaders described his comments as reckless and defamatory, warning that they risk deepening internal divisions at a time when cohesion is crucial in Parliament.\u201cWe express our profound concern over the continued reckless and defamatory utterances by some Azimio La Umoja One Kenya officials, especially Hon Junet Mohamed,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parties emphasized the need to uphold Kenyatta\u2019s legacy, portraying him as a statesman who championed national unity and ensured a peaceful transition of power. They argued that Mohamed\u2019s recent conduct has placed the coalition in an awkward position and weakened its credibility.At the heart of the dispute is Mohamed\u2019s perceived closeness to the Kenya Kwanza administration. Critics within Azimio allege that he has failed to assertively represent opposition interests in the National Assembly, raising questions about his commitment to the coalition\u2019s agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This latest fallout adds to a series of internal disputes that have dogged Mohamed\u2019s political career.
