President William Ruto has called on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) coalition to deliver a decisive victory in the 2027 General Election, setting a target margin of between two and three million votes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on Monday, January 26, 2026, during the UDA National Governing Council meeting at State House in Nairobi, Ruto expressed confidence that the coalition\u2019s strength, strategy, and national appeal would ensure a commanding win. He reminded party leaders that the Kenya Kwanza administration had learned critical lessons from the 2022 election, which he won by a narrow margin of about 200,000 votes, and emphasized the need for broader public endorsement to sustain the government\u2019s transformation agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President defended the growing partnership between UDA and ODM, describing it as a step toward uniting the country and ending the culture of exclusion that has often followed elections. \u201cThere is justification for us to consolidate the country into one. There is enough for every Kenyan. One does not need to miss for the other one to get,\u201d Ruto said, underscoring his belief that governance should be inclusive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He praised ODM leaders serving in his administration, saying their participation reflected political maturity and a shared commitment to national development beyond partisan interests. Ruto noted that the coalition was central to advancing the Kenya Kwanza government\u2019s transformation agenda, which he said had already produced a strong performance record to present to voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outlining key pillars of his administration\u2019s development plan, the President highlighted efforts to expand energy generation, modernize agriculture, and accelerate infrastructure projects across the country. He argued that these initiatives required political stability and a clear electoral mandate to be fully realized. Ruto cautioned, however, that development achievements alone would not guarantee re-election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
