Bungoma Senator David Wafula Wakoli has called for a detailed statement in the Senate regarding the growing concern over pending bills owed by the County Government of Bungoma.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on the floor of the Senate of Kenya, the senator invoked Standing Order 53(1) to formally request the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget to provide clarity on the status of unpaid bills within the county.The lawmaker is seeking a comprehensive report on the total amount of pending bills owed by the county government as of June 30, 2025. He wants the committee to provide a detailed breakdown showing how much is owed to each contractor, the financial year the payments became due, and the specific projects, goods, or services that were delivered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The senator has also asked the committee to confirm whether the county has carried out any verification or audit of the pending bills, and to make the findings of such an exercise public.In addition, the statement seeks to establish the county government\u2019s plan and timelines for settling the outstanding debts, which have continued to affect contractors and suppliers working with the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
