Makali Slams IEBC Over Voter Re-Registration Directive.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kanduyi Member of Parliament John Makali has criticized the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for directing some Kenyans to register afresh as voters, questioning the necessity of the move.<\/kbd><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makali argued that the commission\u2019s biometric system, successfully used in the last General Election, makes fresh registration redundant. His remarks followed IEBC\u2019s clarification that only voters who registered before 2012 must re-enroll to be included in the current biometric voter register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a meeting with IEBC officials in Mombasa, Makali said it was agreed that the 2022 voter register would be used in the 2027 General Election. He insisted no resolution was made requiring pre-2012 voters to register again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
