Vihiga County has intensified efforts to increase registration under the Social Health Authority (SHA), targeting an increase from the current 56 percent to 80 percent by the end of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative is aimed at expanding access to primary healthcare services for residents across all public health facilities.County officials say the registration campaign is part of the government’s broader healthcare agenda to ensure more Kenyans benefit from affordable and accessible medical services under the SHA programme.Speaking during an interview, Vihiga County SHA Manager CPA Jeremiah Lang’ati said the county is working closely with the national government, Community Health Promoters, and other frontline officers to accelerate the ongoing registration exercise and reach more households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lang’ati urged residents who are yet to register to take advantage of the ongoing campaign, noting that enrollment is key to accessing healthcare services under the new national health insurance system.To further simplify the registration process, all public health facilities in Vihiga have been granted system access to register expectant mothers and teenage mothers directly at the point of care. The move, supported by SHA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, is expected to eliminate the need for beneficiaries to visit SHA offices.County health officials say the decentralised registration model will reduce delays, improve service delivery, and ensure vulnerable groups are enrolled without unnecessary barriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
