Rescue teams in Indonesia are racing against time to save dozens of students feared trapped beneath the rubble of a collapsed Islamic boarding school in Sidoarjo, East Java. The multi-storey building gave way Monday afternoon while students were gathered for prayers, leaving three confirmed dead and 99 survivors.
Authorities initially reported 38 people missing, but later revised the number to 91 after reviewing attendance records. Families have gathered anxiously at the site, hoping for news of their loved ones. Rescuers are working manually to avoid triggering further collapse, using drones and detectors to locate survivors and delivering oxygen and water through narrow gaps.

Officials say the collapse was caused by unauthorized construction on the upper floors of the century-old building, which couldnโt support the added weight. The operation remains urgent, with six people confirmed alive under the debris and dozens more unaccounted for.
