🔴Sir Alex Ferguson Backs Lammens as United’s Summer Standout.
Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has offered a glowing assessment of the club’s summer transfer activity, singling out goalkeeper Senne Lammens as a standout performer.
Speaking at the Bahrain International Trophy horse racing event, Ferguson praised the Belgian shot-stopper’s early impact, describing his performances as “outstanding.” Lammens, 23, joined United from Royal Antwerp in a £21.7 million deal and has remained unbeaten in his first five appearances, including a clean sheet on debut against Sunderland and key wins over Liverpool and Brighton.
“There are signs, the manager has had some good signs,” Ferguson told Raceday RTV. “Particularly the goalkeeper has been outstanding. He’s only played three or four games and he’s looking really good.”Ferguson also acknowledged the contributions of fellow summer arrivals Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, who joined from Brentford and Wolves respectively.

He expressed hope that manager Ruben Amorim, whose side is currently seventh in the Premier League and just two points off third place, can build on the momentum.“I hope the manager gets a bit of success because at United you need to have success, the signs are getting better,” Ferguson added.
Behind the scenes, former United goalkeeping coach Tony Coton played a pivotal role in identifying Lammens as a top prospect. Director of football Jason Wilcox confirmed Coton’s influence, noting that the scout had been advocating for the Belgian’s signing for over a year.“This guy is going to be a top signing for us,” Wilcox said. “He is very reflective and professional with his approach.
It wasn’t a knee-jerk reaction.”With United on a five-match unbeaten run and signs of resurgence under Amorim, Ferguson’s endorsement adds weight to growing optimism around Old Trafford.
