Early this month,a mysterious disease hit Eregi girl’s high school in kakamega county,leading the hospitalisation of more than 100 Students suffered paralysed limbs hysteria.
In July,over 163 students of Ikonge P.AG girls secondary school in Nyamira county,fell ill and hospitalised as public health experts revealed that the students fell ill after using contaminated water at school.
During yestermorning,it was unusual busy day at the Amabuko mixed secondary school in kisii where parents and ministry of education officials flocked the school,to assert a rare occurrence where 174 students,complained of abdominal pain and required urgent medical care.
Reports indicated that 23 students were rushed to the keroka sub county hospital,76 to Gucha maternity hospital and 55 others were admitted to St.Catherine Ichunyi mission hospital as 20 who were in critical condition were rushed to the Kisii teaching and referral hospital where they were undergoing treatment.
At least 120 students are reported to have been discharged from hospital.
Medics are investigating the cause of the mysterious illness to establish whether it was caused by a meal the students consumed the previous night.
The school principal Rawlings Juma says; the school had also launched internal audits to establish the cause of the illness.
