The government has launched a country -wide tour to evaluate the effects of human-wildlife conflicts.Tourism and wildlife Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua began his tour in Makueni county, Kibwezi and Mtito-andei regions where human-wildlife conflict has been rampant, promising turning point in efforts to mitigate the same.
People have lost their lives in the past years following occasional attacks on villagers by their properties destroyed.Due to the rise of population and encochment upon traditional wildlife habitat has led to an excalation conflicts in a statement that matters recording compensation and implementation of effective strategies which were discussed with local communities.
In July 2023 the government issued the payment of sh 980 million as a compensation to the family members killed,injureda d properties destroyed by wildlife across the country.
According to the wildlife management and compensation act, Individuals can claim compensation from the county wildlife compensation,in the event of death ,a sum of sh 3 million will be provided to the affected parties.In cases of injuries a compensation of up to sh 3 million will be allocated to the affected persons .
