Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked county Government to do more to offer relief aid to communities affected by the El Nino rains all over the country.
In response to Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir who had faulted the national government for failing to provide relief aid to affected communities at the coast, where the governor confessed that Dp’s visit to Mombasa County was unknown to him.
The D.P said the Mombasa county government was hoarding funds and yet it has enough funds to offer relief aid, unlike other counties where their governers did what was expected of them by realizing funds and relief so as to mitigate the effects of El-NINO rains. The deputy president spoke while distributing food to more than one thousand families affected by the El Nino floods in Kisauni, Mombasa County.
The claims of allocation of funds by the national government is totally opposite according to the press release by the governors denying the remarks of Elnino funds.
However the governors are pleading with the stake holders to join hands in raising funds for the counties that will definitely be used during emergencies so as to elevate and support Kenyans
Speaking to the development partners DP Gachagua also pleaded with them to join hands so as to channel funds to curb the floods.
