Nearly 2 months after the onset of the short rain season as the cabinet is finally taking action to address the devastation cause by the rains,38 COUNTIES so far have been affected by floods as some have been displaced in some parts of the country.
In North-Eastern regions especially in Garissa county,it has been reported as the most affected parts where roads as well as their crops,have been washed away due to the ongoing rainfall as tana river has risen above its cage bursting its banks,submerging homes and destroying the roads leading to other parts of the country as the el-nino rains have not only destroyed infrastructures but also sanctioned an entire region that depended on other neighbouring countries.
Besides that,river Lambert in Homabay County broked its banks on Sunday night,sweeping away 20 acres of crops and submerging 200 houses as residents were left homeless where in Kisumu county kapuothe village village,has also encountered the same incident as the water levels have reached an alarming level as for nearly 2 weeks the waters have been rising due to lack of proper drainage system.
In Isiolo county,people of Ngaremara ward have been displaced by raging waters as 1,000 households have been forced to move out of their homes as heavy rains continue to pound the region leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.
However, the situation in the regions continues to escalate as residents stair at the phenomenon that is beyond their control as the government has warned residents of villages prone to floods to move to a higher ground as the predicted rains may prevail till next year.
