As you all know,education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world so if people have an opportunity for a decent education then forceful migration will be reduced to zero.
In Kenya,some primary schools have encountered many insecurity cases as Kapindasum primary school in Baringo county was attacked on 24th October this year after it experienced the same incident in 2019 as bandits attacked the school which forced them to close down and re-opened again on January this year. In kakamega county,Kakamega primary school experienced a miserable history on 3rd February 2020 which left 14 pupils dead as this happened after the pupils were struggling to save their lives where it was claimed to have seen a ghost at around 5p.m.
The number of schools have been closing down after dormitories, classrooms and laboratories were torched as some of the institutions encountering terror attacks where learners were being left nursing some injuries. Secondary schools have been burned down as this is caused due to drug abuse,poor exams preparations,peer influence,poor parenting,poor school management, harassment and poor communication.
In 2017,total of 20 students died at Moi Girls Nairobi due to fire outbreak where in 2021 there were also 126 cases reported as for this year’s report 26 schools in a total of 16 counties,have recorded fire outbreaks as the classrooms and their dormitories were burned down from January to November.
On 2nd of April 2015 Garissa University that is found in Eastern Kenya bordering with Somalia was attacked by the al-shabaab as they killed 148 people and injured 79 before detonating suicide vests when cornered by security forces.
The gunmen took over 700 students hostage freeing Muslims and killed those who identified themselves as Christians as the attack started at around 5:30 a.m where 2 unarmed guards were killed at the entrance as 20 students were rescued by soldiers as this left the university to close down.
Some of the measures that are to be set in order to avoid and reduce fire tragedy in schools are through counseling,educating students on issues about drug abuse,developing clear communication channels,set of fire extinguishers,good parenting and also training school administrators on good management.
In order to avoid terror attacks and some insecurities where strangers may hijack the institutions,the schools are urged to set proper buildings and repaireness of their fences in order to avoid such cases as well as to guide and counsel students as they may avoid burning down the institutions.
As there have been several cases of insecurities in some of the institutions where teachers,parents and students are usually left in suspense as there are some measures set to avoid bad behaviours and fire tragedies in institutions.
