President William Ruto continued with his official visit to Japan in a bid to strengthen bilateral relations between Kenya and the Asian Nation.
During the visit President inked several financial deals with the biggest winners being Dongo Kundu infrastructure ecosystem at the Coast and the Mombasa Gateway Bridge that secured 250 billion shillings.
President Ruto in a meeting with Prime Minister Fumia Kushiba also secured 30 billion Shillings funding from the Japan Bank, for international cooperation to purchase heavy machinery and mechanised assets, the Olkaria Geothermal project will get 15 Billion shillings.
In the deal with Japan, also set to provide an additional 1 billion shillings for the production of Medical Oxygen for various hospitals in the country. In addition through the United Nations, Kenya will receive 320 Million shillings in humanitarian aid for those affected by recent el-nino related rains.
President Ruto said, the MoU will include enhancing the capacity of Kenya Medical Research Institute KEMRI to build on its pandemic management potential at a cost of 3 Billion shillings. The two countries also signed an agreement on defence cooperation with the Presidential Communication Service, claiming Kenya is the first African Country to sign a defence packed with Japan.
The two leaders also discussed the security situation in the whole of Africa, the Great Lakes Region and Haiti
