With 2,000 cases of forged certificates unveiled for parastatals, have been singled out for having the most number of employees with forged certificates in the Country.
An audit report on the authenticity of academic and professional certificates of all civil servants employed in the last 10 years is telling, over 53,000 cases were referred to the Kenya National Examination Council by 91 Public Institutions for authentication, out of 53,599 cases, 1,280 were found to have been forged.
While handling over a Human Resource audit report on academic qualifications by public servants to EACC and DCI respectively, Public Service Commission Chairman Ambassador Antony Mushiri said, 787 Officers out of 29,314 from 194 Government Ministries departments and agencies including Universities, have been verified to have used forged certificates to procure appointment promotion in the public Service.
EACC stating that it is also investigating governors, implicating in academic and professional certificates forgery, therefore, Institutions leading with most academic forgeries include; Ministry of Interior,Geothermal Power Stations, Kenyatta National Referral Hospital and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
The most common types of forgeries on academic certificates by civil servants include; Alteration of KCSE mean grades, forged KCSE certificates by candidates who did not sit for exams, fake certificates disowned by Learning Institutions, non registered candidates possessing exam certificates and alteration of certificate numbers.
