Obstetric Fistula Disease has made many women isolate themselves and feel discriminated by society after they fail to control urine and faeces.
It is due to this situation that Webuye County Hospital in collaboration with other Organisations has organised free treatment for women with Fistula to enable them to return to their normal state as explained by the Chief Doctor at the Hospital Simon Kisaka.
However, Doctor Kisaka has praised some of more than 49 women who came forward during last year and underwent surgery saying that they are currently doing well.
Therefore, Fistula is caused by prolonged obstructed labour without access to timely and high-quality Medical treatment, where it leaves women and girls leaking urine and faeces and often leads to chronic medical problems, depression, social isolation and deepening poverty.
