Cataracts are a clouding of the natural lens of an eye that typically happens as people get older and sometimes if one has a history of an eye injury, uncontrolled pressure and blood sugar levels, if one has taken steroids for underlying health conditions, diabetes causes cataracts at a bit of a younger age. One may not be able to notice cataracts as it develops but as it becomes denser, one is likely to experience some visible signs.
This condition mostly affects people who are exposed to outdoor activities such as farmers and fishermen since they are exposed to the U.V light for a long time.
Once these signs are noticed, one is expected to visit an optometrist or complain to their family doctor that they are getting a blurry vision and are then entitled to an examination which involves: the vision check, the need for the glasses and the slit lamp examination(a slit lamp microscope with a bright light that allows the examiner to see the different structures of the eyes in details. This helps to detect if the vision is down and to get to see the opacity of the natural lens.
Surgical removal of the lens comes in as an option when the above examinations fail which involves the breaking up of the lens and removal of the contents of the lens at the same time through which a new lens is put into the eye.
Those exposed to the outdoor exposure are recommended to always have protective devices such as reflections so that they can protect their eyes, everyone is recommended to do regular eye check-ups to avoid any further complications that may lead to the losing of the vision
