The deputy president appeared publicly for the first time to attend a church service in Edarasha, Nyeri
County. Gachagua spoke briefly at the event and his office maintained silence for the past week as
rumors about his whereabouts and his relationship status with Ruto continued to grow.
And as the deputy president reappeared his allies cleared all the doubt on the speculated breaking up of
relations between the deputy president and President Ruto. The deputy president’s allies fired claims
invoking a conspiracy about the next general elections. The leaders claimed that plans were being put
into place to fight the Kikuyu nation. Governor Mutahi Kahiga of Nyeri County, clearly says that
disrespect to Gachagua is disrespect to the mountain.
In a separate update, political leaders met at the Limuru 3 conference to discuss crucial issues affecting
the political landscape of the country. The conference saw discussions on national unity, policy
priorities, and party strategies. They emphasized the need for political unity and inclusivity. It provided a
platform for constructive dialogue and strategic plans. Leaders across different political parties came
together to chant a way forward for Kenya’s political future focusing on the needs of Kenyans.
Gachagua had also skipped President Ruto’s tree planting in Muranga with a source indicating that
Gachagua had been expected to conduct a similar exercise in Bomet but was denied a military chopper.
His absence beside the president in key events of the country has raised eyebrows and sparked
discussions among citizens about their current relationship.
The deputy president also missed the Tuesday statehouse meeting last week when Ruto met with the
Kenya Tea chairpersons and directors where they agreed to operationalize the Tea Tribunal to deal with
disputes among stakeholders .in his absence the president tasked his confidant chief of staff and head of
public service Felix Koskei to deal with the matter.
He also missed a meeting with the European Union diplomats on signing of the economic partnership
agreement and trade investment regulations. He also missed the swearing in for the new high court
judges and conferment of the rank of senior council.
The developments surrounding the rift between the president and his deputy continue to draw
attention. The Rift reflects broader shifts in Kenyan politics. Sources suggest that differences in political
strategies and recent events have contributed to tension within their political alliance and among
Kenyan citizens.
While some citizens support the Limuru 3 project and plan to stand with the Deputy President, others
strongly criticize him and argue that he should not go against his boss, President Ruto.
