Leaders from the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) stress the critical importance of quality education in tackling the various challenges faced by African children in the region.
The government is called upon to ensure that children receive education that is pertinent to their needs. These challenges encompass issues such as teenage pregnancies, HIV/AIDS, FGM, early marriages, and substance abuse.
The LREB advocates for a robust education system that offers inclusive, lifelong, and relevant learning opportunities. Mrs. Betty Orengo, the First Lady of Siaya, underscores the significance of utilizing languages that resonate with children, including recognizing the role of mother tongue in education.
Governor Orengo is committed to revitalizing Siaya County’s reputation as a hub for intellectual development, producing skilled professionals.
The leaders of the LREB emphasize the need for education to not only focus on academic knowledge but also on life skills and values that will empower children to make informed decisions and lead healthy, productive lives.
