In a bold move towards strengthening devolution, Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has called upon county assemblies to ramp up public involvement in decision-making processes. Addressing a captivated audience at the Peopleโs Dialogue Festival in Nairobi, Lusaka emphasized the crucial need for governance to be centered around the people, highlighting the key principles of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity.
The power of devolution truly lies in bringing governance closer to the people, Lusaka declared, underscoring the importance of institutionalizing public engagement through legislative procedures, budget deliberations, and the utilization of digital platforms.

In a bid to ensure that no voice goes unheard, Lusaka urged Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) to organize regular forums, actively involve marginalized groups, and embrace e-governance systems to enhance transparency within the decision-making process. Furthermore, he stressed the significance of forging partnerships with civil society organizations and private sector entities to drive effective governance practices forward.
