In a bold and unapologetic move, Nairobi businessman and political analyst Benerd Waliuba, also known as Mtu kazi Mabonga, has thrown down the gauntlet and called on President William Ruto to honor his campaign promises amidst the escalating cost of living in Kenya.
Waliuba, a man not afraid to speak truth to power, highlighted the struggles faced by many Kenyans due to the ever-increasing financial burden. In a statement that resonated with the masses, he emphasized the urgent need for the government to take decisive action to alleviate the economic hardships faced by ordinary citizens.
President Ruto, who has been busy touring development projects in Nairobi County, made lofty commitments during his campaign, promising initiatives to boost the economy. However, Waliuba raised a skeptical eyebrow, questioning the effectiveness of these promises and demanding immediate action to address the pressing challenges faced by the people.
But Waliuba didn’t stop there. In a scathing political critique, he took aim at former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, accusing him of neglecting the interests of young Kenyans, especially the Gen Z demographic. He called out Odinga for allegedly engaging in shady back-door deals instead of championing the needs of the Kenyan populace.

Waliuba didn’t spare Moses Masika Wetang’ula, the Ford-Kenya party leader and Speaker of the National Assembly, either. He criticized Wetang’ula for failing to effectively advocate for the people of Bungoma County, which has been hit hard by the decline of the Nzoia Sugar Company, a vital source of livelihood for many.
In a rallying cry to the Luhya community, Waliuba urged them to throw their support behind Eugene Wamalwa, the leader of DAP-K, as a potential presidential candidate for the 2027 elections. He stressed the importance of having a leader who will prioritize the interests of the people over their own ambitions, calling for a new era of political accountability and community development.
In conclusion, Waliuba’s bold stance serves as a wake-up call to President Ruto and other political leaders, demanding action, not just words, in the face of the challenges plaguing the nation. It’s time for the government to deliver on its promises and work towards a brighter future for all Kenyans.
