Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa presided over a bursary distribution event for various students from his constituency.
The event, which was attended by school principals and parents, took place at Maeni Girls High School, located in Bungoma County. In his speech, Barasa stated that, in addition to providing school fees support for students, he will continue the construction of modern classrooms in various schools within the region, with the goal of improving learning environments and enhancing education standards.
He also urged school principals to support students facing financial challenges by issuing them their academic certificates, so they can use them to seek employment opportunities that would enable them to repay their school debts.
However, the issue of tension between Members of Parliament and Governors over the management and distribution of bursary funds emerged, with each side defending its position on responsibility and authority in the allocation of the funds.

Out of this, Ksh 13 million went directly to schools within Kimilili constituency, Ksh 12 million benefited students from Kimilili studying in other constituencies, and Ksh 13 million was allocated to universities and colleges.
